INSOMNIAC Kiosk Opens Electronic Locks at Storage Solutions

Storage Solutions in Fletcher Heights First in the World to Use Electronic Locks

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona – August 2, 2005 – OpenTech Alliance, Inc. today announced that Storage Solutions, a management firm operating over 40 self-storage facilities in the Phoenix area, has installed OpenTech’s INSOMNIAC™ self-storage kiosk and Global Electronic’s e-LocX at it’s Fletcher Heights facility. This facility is the first in the world to use electronic locks on its unit doors.

The electronic locks are activated by INSOMNIAC and the facility’s Syrasoft management software. In cases where a unit has been overlocked due to nonpayment, INSOMNIAC can automatically remove the overlock from the unit when the customer brings his account current using the kiosk. If a payment is made in the office, the office manager can use Syrasoft to remove the overlock on the unit.

“The combination of INSOMNIAC and electronic locks takes things to a new level in self-storage security and automation,” said Raymond E. McRae, Vice President and Director of Operations for Storage Solutions. “Thanks to the combined, active security features, we’re able to charge a premium in rents for access up to 24 hours per day. Customers really appreciate this added service and are willing to pay for it.”

“Fletcher Heights is a great proving ground for this new technology,” said Robert Chiti, OpenTech’s President and CEO. “We’ve been working with Global Electronics and Storage Solutions for a number of months now and are extremely impressed with the level of automation and security electronic locks provide. We really believe this is the future of self-storage.”

Storage Solutions is using an INSOMNIAC 900 at its new Fletcher Heights facility. The INSOMNIAC 900 is OpenTech’s top-of-the-line self-storage kiosk with built in fingerprint scanner, signature pad, driver’s license scanner, digital camera, check and credit card scanner. The kiosk enables tenants to rent units, make payments, update their account information, purchase locks, and view multimedia facility tours.

At Fletcher Heights, the kiosk works in conjunction with Syrasoft’s management software and Global’s Axcys Security Software. INSOMNIAC places all customer information into Syrasoft the same way a facility manager would, ensuring accurate financial and operational reporting.
