Some innovative customers have created a payment award program to promote usage of the kiosk. The promotion is that one lucky tenant that pays through the kiosk during the month (or whatever period you wish) will be selected to receive their next month’s rent for FREE. This has proven to be very successful!

When tenants enter the office and say they want to pay their rent, the manager tells them about the promotion. The manager then offers to take the tenant to the kiosk and show them how to make their payment via the kiosk and get a chance to win their next month’s rent FREE. Everyone has a few minutes to learn how to get something for FREE. After a few months when your tenants are using the kiosk you can discontinue the promotion.

Another creative suggestion is to charge different administrative fees. Owner/operator Beth Schroeder charges an administrative fee of $20 to rent a unit if she has to do it personally. She tells potential tenants the administrative fee is only $5 if they rent through the kiosk. This encourages kiosk usage and saves her from having to go to the facility.
