Boomerang and INSOMNIAC Automate Self-Storage
Combined Technologies Provide Ultimate in Self-Service Convenience
PHOENIX, Arizona – December 4, 2007 – OpenTech Alliance, Inc. today announced that it has teamed with Boomerang Systems, Inc. to automate self-storage by integrating its INSOMNIAC™ line of self-service kiosks with Boomerang’s Automated Locker Retrieval System™. Thanks to Boomerang’s patent pending technology, tenants can retrieve their storage units on demand to ground floor bays without assistance from an onsite manager. INSOMNIAC kiosks enable tenants to make rentals and payments on their own. Together the two technologies can shorten an operator’s lease up period, save staffing costs, and provide tenants with the ultimate in self-service convenience.
“The two technologies are amazing to watch in action together,” said Robert Chiti, President and CEO for OpenTech. “A tenant can rent a unit on their own from the INSOMNIAC kiosk, punch in their new access code, and then be presented at ground level with their new unit within 90 seconds. Behind the scenes, the unit may have been stored anywhere on the property, even six levels up!”
“The INSOMNIAC kiosk has made remotely operated storage facilities a reality across the United States,” remarked Chris Mulvihill, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Boomerang Systems. “By leveraging Boomerang’s Automated Locker Retrieval System, storage facilities can now be built on less land, in less time, and be fully automated too. We believe this is the future of self-storage and are happy to say it is available today.”
Every unit in a Boomerang storage facility is climate controlled and drive-up accessible, however very little area is needed for loading and parking, making the system more conducive to mixed use development. When a tenant enters their pass code, their storage unit is quickly and automatically retrieved. Payments, account updates, and new rentals can be made at the INSOMNIAC kiosk which works with all the leading property management systems.
