Kiosk Nets an Extra $84,000 for 100 Unit Facility

PHOENIX, Arizona – June 1st, 2014 –OpenTech Alliance, Inc. announced that JFK Mini Storage, a 14,400 square foot facility in Macon Georgia, reported an average increase in net operating revenue of over $3,500 monthly since their INSOMNIAC™ Kiosk made its debut two years ago in April of 2012. Facility owners Rene and Mickey Claxton saw the revenue increase as an added bonus to their actual objective. With two full-time careers and three kids, the couple installed the self-service kiosk to reduce labor.

Rene, a nurse anesthetist and Mickey, a former Nike Tour Player and local golf pro, required a solution to find more time away from the business in the evenings and on the weekends. Before using the kiosk, it was also not uncommon for the resident manager to open the door at all hours in effort to provide first-rate customer service to their over 100 tenants.

"If you're currently renting units or running payments manually, consider how much more efficient it might be to automate that process. Today over 70% of our transactions (rentals & payments) are made directly through the kiosk and our office hours have been reduced to a part time schedule," said Rene.

The Claxton’s have weighed the return of investing in the kiosk on reduced labor costs, better operations, more accurate book keeping and improved customer service (in addition to the added revenue). "It took a little time to promote the technology and educate tenants but the benefits of the kiosk are much greater in value than the burdens of being onsite all of the time. We accomplished what we wanted, the kiosk has uncomplicated our self storage business and added a better level of convenience for our customers," added Rene.
